The New York Geographic Alliance and New York Sea Grant are pleased to announce a watershed workshop, Celebrating Western New York's Waters. It will be held at the Niagara Aquarium in Niagara Falls, New York on Saturday March 22, 2014 from 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM.
The workshop will be free to teachers from the Niagara Region. In addition, participants who complete the training will receive a $100 stipend. They will also be eligible for financial support for environmental field trips for their students (transportation, admission fees). Teachers can also borrow our Water Testing Kits. Many materials will be given to all participating teachers, including our watershed training manuals, packed with lessons and other resources. Topics covered will include basics of watersheds, mapping watersheds, water quality testing, the Great Lakes FieldScope website, invasive species, and the future of the Great Lakes Region.
The Niagara River drains all of the water of the upper Great Lakes through this narrow gorge near the Aquarium.
