November 16 - 21, 2009 is Geography Awareness Week. The teachers of the Renaissance Charter School in Jackson Heights (Queens) are celebrating with a day of activities on November 19th.
There will be lessons on this year's Geography Action! theme of Europe, but they will also have activities about New Orleans - the Mississippi River and Hurricane Katrina. Carol Gersmehl, NYGA Co-Coordinator and the Staff Geographer at Renaissance, is inviting other New York City teachers to attend this celebration. More information will be available very soon.
