NYSCSS Annual Conference - Rye Town

Location: 699 Westchester Ave. Rye Town NY 10573

The New York State Council for the Social Studies (NYSCSS) has announced that their annual conference will be held at the Hilton in Rye Town, NY (Westchester County) on February 28 - March 2, 2013. Many of the workshops will be held on Friday and Saturday, which should allow more teachers to attend without missing school time. And Saratoga Springs is  a great place to spend a weekend! Of course, NYGA will be there with a table and we will be presenting workshops, too.

Phil Gersmehl, a long time member of the New York Geographic Alliance, will be the  speaker on Thursday February 28th at the special luncheon. There will also be a keynote address by Eric Foner from Columbia University, and special performance by Sheila Arnold, who will portray Betsy Costner, a slave born in North Carolina.

Registration is still available from the NYSCSS website. See link below.

Phil Gersmehl, chair of the NYGA Module Development Committee,  presenting a previous NYSCSS Conference.
