Teaching with Digital Maps

The New York Geographic Alliance is partnering with the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES to present a workshop using GIS to enhance geography - Teaching with Digital Maps. It is part of our B-WET Upper Susquehanna Project supported by a grant from NOAA.

This will be a full day workshop held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the TST BOCES Center on 555 Warren Rd, Ithaca, NY 14850. Registration will be open at 8:30 AM and instruction will begin at 9:00 AM sharp. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. There is no fee for this workshop. Here is the description for Teaching with Digital Maps:

"In this 6-hour workshop you will learn ways to use digital maps to integrate technology into your classroom. Utilizing ArcGIS Online, with a focus on Story Maps, we will guide you through the creation and use of digital maps relevant to geography content and skills. By the end of this workshop, you will know how to use ArcGIS Online to explore and create digital maps and have strategies and resources to incorporate digital maps into your classroom."

Since this is a part of NYGA's watershed program, we are especially interested in training teachers to use these mapping skills with outdoor field work.

Registration is available from MyLearningPlan. The link is https://goo.gl/9FzgTi If you have problems registering, contact Sunshine Miller at TST BOCES.
