Geography on the Escarpment - a Workshop for Current and Future Teachers

The New York Geographic Alliance is pleased to announce that we have made arrangements with Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises to host a workshop on teaching geography for both current and future teachers. We're calling it
"Geography on the Escarpment." We want you to feel prepared to include more geography in your instruction, no matter what grade level you teach! This workshop is FREE to New York State teachers and Pre-Service teachers. The date is Saturday, May 30, 2020, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It will include classroom time, a very nice luncheon buffet, and a cruise through Lockport's world famous locks that climb up and down the Niagara Escarpment.

Here is our tentative schedule:

9 am - 12:00  Workshop session
12:00 - 1:00   Buffet Lunch (salad, potatoes, carrots, pasta with no meat, 3 meats - roast beef, corned beef, rolls, and dessert)
1:00 - 2:00/2:30  Cruise through both locks on the boat
2:30 - 3:00. Possibly reconvene to wrap up and get participant feedback. Raffle of freebies!

A trip through the two very big locks in Lockport is a very memorable experience. You rise around 70 feet. Then you cruise through the Deep Cut.

We are working on finalizing the details of this workshop. We now have a flyer/paper registration form in PDF format. Click here to download.
