B-WET Upper Susquehanna OUTDOOR Workshop

Monroe Community College received a generous grant from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as part of the Bay-Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Upper Susquehanna program. The two-year grant (2015-2017) will train teachers and inform educators in New York about watersheds and related topics. Funding will support instructional activities in conjunction with the New York Geographic Alliance programs.

We are now almost nine months into the B-WET initiative. Since it's springtime, we want to do another training in the great outdoors. So, on Saturday, May 14, 2016, we will hold an all-day workshop (flyer) devoted to environmental activies that can be done in any park or green space. Our host is the Rogers Environmental Education Center just outside Sherburne, NY on Route 80.  The agenda is available here.

We will have many activities that are ready for use in YOUR classroom. We will demonstrate how to use the water-testing kits, designed for us specifically by Prof. Stephen Vermette of Buffalo State College. There will be lessons demonstrated to help teach the basic concepts of watersheds. If you have been to a similar workshop before, you are definitely encouraged to join us again. We will have activities for you, that will help you to plan outdoor experiences for your students this spring or next fall.

There is NO cost to attend this workshop. If you are partnering with the New York Geographic Alliance, or would like to be a partner, we can help you with your travel expenses (mileage). Food will be served before and during the workshop. If you are interested in more information, please contact Tim McDonnell, or call the NYGA Office at (585)-292-2398.
