New York State Education Department has just announced that the draft Global History & Geography II prototypes have gone live on EngageNY. Accompanying the prototypes is a four-part video series based off the PowerPoint presentation given by Greg Ahlquist and Donna Merlau at the March 21 NYSCSS convention. Last, there is an online survey, which will be live through Sunday, May 15.
We highly recommend that readers start by watching the four video presentations. After that, they should read through the PDF of the prototype items. Then, with prototype items in hand, they should take the survey. For convenience (because the survey cannot be saved and returned to once started), there is a downloadable version of the survey available under “Downloadable Resources” at the bottom of the assessment page.
All of these materials can be found at: https://www.engageny.org/resource/regents-exam-global-history-and-geography-ii. If you are a Global History and Geography teacher, you should check out this web page! The New York Geographic Alliance will begin to work on lessons to help teachers prepare for the new exam this summer. If you are interested in working with us, contact Tim McDonnell, Coordinator of the NYGA.
This is one of the maps used in the Extended Essay section of the Global History and Geography II Exam. Download the prototype from Engage NY.
